Dear Carter,
Happy 1st birthday, little bug! It's hard to believe you are ONE YEAR OLD! It seems like we were bringing you home from the hospital just a few months ago...not one whole year ago! Time sure has flown by this year. You sure have kept us busy but we have loved every minute of it. You seem to be growing and changing so fast but your personality keeps getting cuter and bigger with every day that passes.
You still crawl around on your hands and knees but you will walk with someone holding your hands or on your own but holding on to something. You haven't tried to let go and take any steps by yourself yet but you reach for things, like you are gonna walk to them but then drop down to your knees. You enjoy pushing your walker around the house. You haven't gotten the hang of turning it yet so we often have to help you when you run into walls or furniture.
The house is becoming more and more toddler proof by the day. You have gotten taller and can reach the tops of almost all the tables. Since you are able to to reach things on the edge, we have to be super careful of things hanging over (like the strap to the camera, my purse, and any thing that would make a mess or hurt you.)
We spend most of our days playing in the den. You love to play with your toys and read lots of books. You love touch-n-feel and peek-a-boo books. Sometimes we read your favorite books (You Are My Cupcake and Where Is Baby's Yummy Tummy) over and over again, until mommy or daddy can recite them by memory.
You and your Lamby are best friends. You love, hug, and kiss all over her. When you give her a kiss, you open your mouth and smother her nose. Poor Lamby ends up wet from your drool but she is one very loved little animal. You drag her around when your crawl and roll around with her on the floor. You get so tickled if someone plays peek-a-boo with Lamby. Sometimes she rides with you in the back seat of the car, and on occasions she has been known to ride with you in your stroller. You lay in your crib and rub her ribbon until you drift off to sleep and when you wake up in the mornings, we find you hold her standing up in your crib. You two are so attached, that for fear of something happening to her, you got another Lamby for Christmas. Mommy had a security blanket and daddy had a special teddy bear, so it's only fair that you have something special too!
You love to eat! We haven't found anything that you won't eat. When we ask you if it's yummy, you respond with an "ummmm..." and sometimes you say "ummm, ummm!" You love having yogurt with your breakfast. Some of your favorite foods are: green veggies, carrots (sticks & pureed), dill pickles, scrambled eggs, and applesauce. You still drink 4 bottles a day of about (6 ounces each) every three hours, in addition to about 15 ounces of food. Sometimes we call you "Grubby" because if anyone eats in front of you, you beg until they give you a bite of their food.
We can't believe how fast you are growing up. Now you have both your bottom front teeth and almost two top incisor teeth (the left one is still coming through). Your smile is precious and unique, just like you.
Our love for you grows everyday and we can't wait to see what your future holds. We love you, little Carter-Bug. Happy FIRST Birthday!
XOXO,
"Ma Ma" & "Da Da"
