This is Carter's designated play area, complete with a foam bed topper for her added comfort. Let's be honest, it's really for her own protection. It's where she first started to practice crawling because the carpet burned her knees, it has protected her from her face-plant-itis that she sometimes displays, and most recently it protects her precious little head when she falls backwards because she is adamant on sitting up. But hey, they have to learn somehow. Does she stay on the is mat all the time? Absolutely not; in fact she has started crawling off of it and heading towards the kitchen but at least it is added protection when she plays with her big girl toys.
