Teacher's Beach Trip 2013

Friday morning got up, packed the car, and headed for Charleston. Steve (Casey J's roommate/teammate from PC) and his fiance, Jessie, were getting married at Seabrook Island and tomorrow my teacher friends would be headed down to Folly for a few days to relax since school was out for the summer.

On the way down we had to make a stop to change Carter's diaper and feed her a bottle. Casey randomly chose an exit and pulled in. We laughed as we noticed the name of the fast stop store, Carter's Fast Stop.
Back on the road and going over the big bridge.
We stayed with Lytle and Fober Friday night. This was a quick pic of Carter and Daddy snuggling before he left for Steve's rehearsal dinner.
The jeep was fully loaded. I wish I had taken a picture of the back seat. Behind the driver's seat was more baby stuff. I barely had enough space to fit in between all our stuff and Carter in her car seat! It was a tight squeeze! I now understand the expression, ...everything but the kitchen sink!
We enjoyed swinging on Lytle's front porch. It was so relaxing that Carter fell asleep!
Saturday, we woke up and packed up again! I wanted to take Carter to The Citadel and get some t-shirts and take some pictures.
We told Carter about how her Papa's Citadel belt buckle was melted down to create this bulldog. She just looked at it and did not know what to think. We knew Papa would love these pictures!

Then we went shopping at the outlets and then headed to the house where we would be staying the rest of the week. We were having lots of luck shopping, but if we were going to make it to the wedding on time we had to get going. We left the outlets, arrived at the beach house and five of my girl friends (we all taught together) were already there. We unloaded the car (again!), hopped in the shower, got dressed, and set up the Pack-N-Play all while the girls played with Carter.
This was the first time leaving Carter with someone other than her grandparents. We felt comfortable leaving her with 5 teachers, who love her, and all had smartphones --- to send us pictures throughout the night.

When we arrived home Carter was asleep in her Pack-N-Play and had a pretty good report. They said she cried...she must have missed her mommy, because her mommy was missing her little angel!

The next morning Casey rode back with Tatum and us girls laid out on the dock over looking the marsh. Carter played and took a nap.

That night we went out to dinner at Rita's. Carter was so good! She played in her stroller and people watched. After dinner we went for a walk and stopped for dessert. It was way past Carter's bedtime, but she had caught her second wind. While we were eating dessert she was the happiest baby; lots of smiles and laughing. All the girls were surprised at how well she was doing for it being so late.
Each morning, Carter would wake up and we would tip toe through the kitchen make her bottle and take it drink out on the dock. We would sit and watch the sun rise. It was so peaceful and I loved that it was just the two of us. It was our special time together. If I had to be the first one to get up, I'm glad it was to spend one on one time with my baby girl.
One morning we played photo shoot, and yes, in our pajamas. They just happened to be some of my favorite from the whole trip!
Then the girls would start to wake up and make their way out on the dock, sleepy eyed and carrying their breakfast. We would all sit around, eat, and discuss that day's plans. Several of the girls drink DDP (Diet Dr. Pepper) and Carter really wanted to try it but that did not happen!
There was lots of wildlife to watch from the dock. Carter would just sit and stare.

We went to the beach. Carter was so happy in her little sun dome.
She even took a nap!
We had to get a picture together with our sunglasses on!
One morning we came back inside played a little bit and then got back in bed. Mrs. Halley snagged mommy's phone and snapped a picture of us both sleeping with our mouths open!
Another morning, snuggles in bed!
Of course we had to have photo shoot in our cute bathing suit!

We had so much on our girls vacation but it was time to go home and see daddy! We packed up the car (it literally took all of us girls) and said our good byes. Mrs. Halley rode in the backseat with Carter almost all the way home. We always enjoy our vacations but it always feels good to be home! When daddy got home from work, he raced up the stairs to find me and Carter resting on the bed. Daddy had missed Carter so much!
