Four Months Old

Our little girl keeps changing before our eyes. One night we put her to bed only to find that when she woke up the next morning she had grown and her appearance had slightly changed. We couldn't put our finger on exactly what was different but she is definitely constantly changing and growing everyday.
When you bat those big blue eyes you grab everyone's attention. When we are out in public you never meet a stranger. You smile and get lots of compliments on how cute you are. Mommy and daddy agree. Your big smile melts our heart. You have your daddy wrapped around your little finger. You two are always laughing about something. Whether you are snuggling watching sports or in his lap giggling, you two are so cute together. He is constantly telling you, "I love you, Carter." We often wonder what we did without you. We can't remember what we used to do with all our spare time but we can't imagine life without you now. Every day is a new day and you always make us smile.

You love to watch everything going on around you. You track moving object with your eyes and get so excited when mommy or daddy walk into the room. One of your favorite things to do is play peek-a-boo. You have the cutest grin and giggle. You start laughing and your tickle box gets turned over. You end up getting the hiccups almost every time.
Your continue to be a great nighttime sleeper. Bedtime is around 7:30 pm and you sleep contently until 5 or 6 am. You wake up so happy and full of smiles. We even found you having tummy time one morning in your crib. You had broken free from your swaddle and had your arms out like it was time to play. We wake up at 4:30 on Monday and Tuesday mornings for you to go to Gee and Papa's  but on Wednesdays and Thursdays you wake up and Grammy comes over at 6 am for the day. You seem to do fine with your "grand-care" during the week. I know they enjoy spending time with you. They love you so much. You get daddy-daughter days on Fridays while mommy is at work. Mommy loves to coming home to your bright eyes and gummy grin!
Hating tummy time is a thing of the past. You are constantly rolling over from your back to your tummy and holding your head high. You only roll over on your left side but you have gotten so quick at rolling over it's hard to even get a quick picture of you laying on your back! When you rarely lay on your back you like to lay on your play mat and grasp on to the hanging toys. Your grip continues to get stronger. You prefer to hold on to everything from our fingers, to a blanket, or even your car seat harness. You can hold your toys now and even have heard you push the buttons on one of the musical ones.
When being held you prefer to be held sitting up so you can see everyone and everything going on. You are always content in sitting up in your stroller. It is one of your favorite things to do. The weather has been beautiful warm and you love your afternoon strolls. I have found you and Papa laying in the hammock multiple times relaxing and looking around the back yard. Molly is so good around you. She is your little buddy. You stare at her wherever she is in the yard and like to look for her out the window when inside. Other afternoons I have come home to find you and Grammy sitting outside on the front porch watching the cars and school buses drive by or walking around the yard.
We have all noticed how much you are drooling these days. Some days you will go through multiple bibs a day because you have drooled so much. We are constantly looking at your gums to see if any little teeth are trying to come in but we haven't seen anything yet. Everything goes in your mouth: your fingers, our fingers, toys, burp clothes, your clothes. Anything and everything you try to see if it will fit. You aren't necessarily chewing on things yet, you tend to lick everything. The funniest thing is to watch you try something new in your mouth and the face you make. It's like you aren't sure whether you like it or not but you sure want it either way.

Your hair has almost completely fallen out and grown back in blonde. Mommy is so excited for you to have blonde hair! You still have a dark strip of hair at the base of you head that hasn't fallen out yet. Your hair is growing and still lays on top of your ears, but it is still too short of a bow.
You went from the 4th to the 50th percentile in weight since your last well check-up. The first thing Dr. Smith asked was "Where did all this weight come from?" You love your organic formula and we can tell. Your belly is so cute and round. Your legs now have little rolls and your arms are cute with little creases. Your feet must be growing too. Your baby socks are becoming short in the foot and tight around the ankles.
At your check-up you had to get a shot in each of your legs. You knocked the nurse's tray off the table with your arm and it fell on to the floor during your second shot. You were not happy about the shots but other than that you were all smiles. The nurse told us that you were their happiest baby of the day. You received a healthy report at your check-up and are scheduled to go back at 6 months old.
