Carter & Sophie the Giraffe

Carter is just beginning to reach and grasp on to things other than our fingers. Most of the time we have to pry her fists open and put the object in her hand. That's not the case with Sophie the giraffe. We put opened her fist and showed her how to hold on to the handles and let her put it in her mouth. At first, she made a face like, "What is this and why are you sticking it in my mouth?" After a couple seconds of trying to figure out what to do, she quickly decided that she liked Sophie and it was fun to lick. Sophie is made out of 100% natural rubber so she is a safe chew toy but right now, Carter prefers her as a "lick toy." I'm sure once she starts teething, Sophie will become a chew toy but for right now it keeps her little tongue busy!

(Normally when changing Carter's diaper she cries, but Sophie kept her entertained. By the time she was changed, Carter was all smiles!)
