Three months already? There's no way.
Looks like you are as shocked as I am. How can three month have come and gone so quickly?
This last month has been the fastest one yet. Maybe it is because you've gotten into a routine and we've started taking you out in public more. Or is it because you have started to develop your own personality and it's so much fun to sit you on our lap and laugh with you? Whatever it is, time needs to slow down!
You are sleeping like an angel in your crib. You usually sleep between 8 to 10 hours at night. During the day you tend to catnap 2 to 3 times. Occasionally you will take a long nap. You normally fall asleep swaddled in mommy or daddy's arms. Your eyes still roll back in your head and you give us two to three cute sleepy grins right as you drift off to sleep. You wake up in the mornings wide eyed and smiling. We love your early morning smiles as we change your diaper and cuddle while your bottle heats up.
Sleeping flat on your back has caused you to loose your hair around the crown of your head (as you can see in this picture). The hair above your ears has gotten longer and we now push it back behind your ears. Your hair is still thin but the lower part around the base of your head and neck is still thick and dark. The color continues to get lighter on top but the tips are brown.
You are definitely getting taller. We've noticed in the past couple weeks that some of your leggings are now looking more like capris. You can't wear any of your newborn sleepers anymore because your legs are too long and you can't stretch all the way out with the footed pajamas. You have started to grow into your 3 months clothes in almost everything except a few of the pants. They are a little loose around the waist. You look so long and lean but your round little belly sticks way out like you are hiding a ball under your onesie.
You love to sit and lay with your ankles crossed like a little lady. You are starting to get some cute little baby rolls on your thighs and arms. Your feet are so little but your toes look long. You still have not had to have your toenails cut but your fingernails grow like crazy. You still keep your hands balled up into fists but we have caught you reaching out trying to touch objects. You are starting to make little noises and sometimes you sound like you are saying, "go" but we just laugh and you smile back at us.
Your eyes have stayed blue. They are gorgeous. Your face is starting to fill out and you are getting little cheeks. They are so cute, it's hard to resist pinching them! You are so alert now. You love to look around at your surroundings and stare out windows. You and your daddy often have staring contests and you usually win. Your head control is improving everyday. You love to hold your head up when we burp you over our shoulder and you do really well when we help sit you up. Sometimes we let you sit up on top of the table after we have finished eating and you love to be up high enough to see what everyone is doing.
You have been eating a lot more than usual this past week. Are you going through a growth spurt? You had some formula for the first time yesterday since you were born in the hospital. You hated it. You gagged and made the most yucky face, so we went back and forth between a bottle of breast milk and a bottle of formula until you were finished. It was not enjoyable but today you surprised me and you didn't complain in the least bit when I gave you a bottle of formula. We are supplementing one bottle a day as you continue to grow and want more milk.
You continue to amaze and entertain us everyday. You are one special little girl. We can't remember what life was like before you were here. You have definitely changed our life for the better!
We love you, Carter!
