Carter did extremely well at her appointment. She sat so quietly in the waiting room, let the doctor examine her and never even cried. She weighed 8lbs 11oz. (Only one ounce less than her birth weight.) The doctor said that we can now let her wake on her own to feed instead of waking her up every three hours. Also, we can let Carter sleep 4 to 5 hours in between her feedings. (She has done this twice already and it was great because we all got an extended amount of sleep those two nights.)
We also asked about Carter having the hiccups after almost every feeding. She said it was natural for young babies when their belly gets full. She also explained that there was nothing you could do for them even though sometimes they are so loud and it shakes them. Sometimes it's hard to watch her struggle with having the hiccups when they are so bad, but at least they don't seem to last too long or bother her. She already has several nicknames but her daddy calls her "Hiccup" since she gets them so often.
Overall, her check up went well and the doctor said we have a happy and healthy baby! We were so excited about the good news Casey ran in to Chick-Fil-A to get us breakfast to celebrate!
