You still nap and sleep swaddled. Some naps are much longer than others but they range from 45 mins to 2 hours; we just never know! You are sleeping through the night on a consistent basis. Some mornings you wake up around 5:30, eat and then go back to sleep and wake up again around 7:30-8:00 am. You and Carter seem to wake up about the same times. Most mornings you will eat again, stay up for a little while and then go back to bed for another hour. We aren't on a set schedule...you tend to eat when you are hungry (which some days seems like you are constantly hungry) and you sleep when you are tired. You will very rarely take a pacifier, as in maybe once a week---if that!
Your gummy grin is the cutest thing! When you make eye contact with us and we interact with you, you light up and just coo and smile. Just recently have we heard you start to laugh. The first time was after mommy had changed your diaper and was blowing raspberries on your belly. Speaking of your belly, you are definitely filling out and gaining weight. You are totally a different shape than your sister at this age. She had the skinniest little arms and legs with a big round belly. (She weighted 11 lbs. 6 oz. and was 24 inches long at 3 months.) You are more stocky; your thighs are beginning to chunk up, your arms are starting to get thicker but your belly remains pretty flat. Your hair is much lighter than the hair you were born with. We laugh because you look like an old man with hardly any hair on the top of your head and have more around your crown and ears.
Most people comment on how alert you are. You are holding your head up well and have even sat in the Bumbo a few times lately. When you get tired, you start to bobble but you love it. Your big blue eyes like to watch everything going on around you. You rarely ever want to be held like a baby, you always want to be facing out or over the shoulder. You are definitely a mommy's boy right now.
Carter loves you so much and this month it has become more apparent than before. She has to give you a hug, a kiss, and say, "I love you, 'Tofford."' before she takes a nap or goes to bed at night. During the day, she shares her stuffed animals and Lamby with you. Lots of times we find you in your swing with a baby doll in your lap. She tells us that you are dancing when you wave your arms and kick your legs. Mommy and daddy have noticed that Carter doesn't want to hold you as much as she used to, now she prefers to be in front of you - face to face - carrying on a conversation. It melts our hearts to see you smiling and cooing back at her.
