14 Months

Our little, fourteen month old, Carter-Bug! You are a funny little thing! Your toothy little grin makes our heart melt. We are still waiting on your front, top-right tooth to come in. Until then we just love your little window in your mouth!

You’ve become quite the chatter-box this month. Your most favorite and repeated phrase is “Hey tha” or “Hi tha” or “Hey Da” – it just depends on who you’re talking to…except when your daddy walks into the room. Then it is definitely “Hey Da” usually in combination with a wave.

You are such the social butterfly and you love attention. In the afternoons around 5:30 we sometimes will walk out to the front yard and you wave at the neighbors as they drive by. You definitely make people smile. Especially when we are out in public; someone always stops to talk to you and you just flash your dimples and smile. You love attention!

Getting dressed is probably your least favorite thing to do (except when it comes to socks and shoes). You are fascinated with them. It’s so funny to watch you try to put them on. Usually you just lay them on your feet and watch, like they are magically going to jump on your feet. Other than that, you hate putting a shirt over your head (but you will try to help pull it down) and you will hold up your leg for momma to put your pants leg on. Doesn’t matter if you are putting on pj’s or clothes, you always put up a fight.

This month you have really started walking more. You still crawl some but I’d say you are walking most of the time. You still are wobbly and getting on your feet can be a struggle but when you are vertical you get so excited! When you get close to objects such as the couch or table, you almost like throw yourself into them (kind of like you are trying to stretch that very last step to get you to where you want to be.)

You are starting to mimic what we do; like trying to brush your hair and teeth. You think it’s so fun to pick up mommy’s iPhone and hold it up to your ear and say, “hey.” If you can’t find one of our cell phones, you make believe with a remote or toy. You are able to throw the foam ball back and forth with us. We are still working on your hand-eye-coordination, and your catching abilities but we have so much fun playing with you.

Lamby continues to be your loyal companion.  She goes most everywhere with us. You love to hold her while we ride in the car and if you drop her, you will let us know about it! This month you have learned to identify Lamby’s eyes, ears, and nose. We can ask you: Where is Lamby? Where is your baby? Where is your paci? And you will go and get the item.

Your appetite hasn’t changed much over the last month other than you ALWAYS want to eat! And your belly shows it too! You are eating more small pieces of table food and enjoy eating from our plates. We often ask ourselves if we wished we had taught you the sign for more. You use it to signal to us that you either want to eat or that you want more food. You love to bite into food, like bananas. Now, if you see a banana sitting on the counter you say “ba” and make the more sign. With our help, you have started to use your utensils more. We will put food on your spoon or fork and hand it to you. You then put it in your mouth and sit it back down on the table.

All that food is starting to catch up with you. Your little belly is so big sometimes that it looks uncomfortable. In most tops you are wearing a 12-18 months to try to give more coverage over the tummy area. And since your pants have to sit below your big belly, you have a small little waist but you are starting to outgrow your pants in the length, so we are slowly moving to 12-18 months in pants too. Finally you can wear some size 4 shoes. It seems like you wore a size 3 for the longest time. You continue to comfortably wear a size 3 Pampers diaper.

Each month we say we love the stage you're at right now...We wish we could bottle you up and keep you this cute! Not sure how it is possible, but we find ourselves loving you more and more each and every day! XOXO
