Crawford Is Nine Months Old

Happy 9 months to our favorite little man! You are more active than we ever imagined!
Note: This month, daddy had to step in and be an extra set of hands for us to even attempt to take pictures. Corralling you in in one area is near impossible. Getting you to sit in the chair took all hands on deck and even sissy had to help get you to look at the camera!
*Daddy was holding on the the chair and acted quickly when he stood up---but just had to include these outtakes because it is true life!*
Monkey see, Monkey do. Carter calls herself "Sissy."
This last month has truly been a roller coaster. On your 8th month birthday, we were rear ended in a car accident. Thankfully we were all fine. Then we spent 2 nights (1 in PICU and 1 in a regular room) in the the children's hospital for your 8 and a half birthday. You somehow managed to fracture your skull in the crib. No one would have ever known (other than the whopping goose egg) because you were the happiest kid in the whole hospital - minus having to be connected to so many monitors. We celebrated your nine month birthday by taking these pictures a couple days late, on a Sunday afternoon, so daddy would be home to help. Here's to hoping this next month will bring health and lots of fun memories!
You are on the move and too brave for your own good. You love to stand up and hold on to things. You will take a few steps and try to scale down the couch. If we hold your hands, you will walk around with assistance. You have a very unique crawl. You use your right knee to crawl with and you pick your left leg up and use your foot. Your left knee hardly ever touches the floor. You are a little speedster when you are after something!
You are starting to stand and push things around. We have your sissy's Ybike but it seems to roll a little fast for you. I guess we need to get you a walker...you just seem too young, shouldn't you still be a baby? You are growing up too fast!
Everything goes in your mouth! We have to keep a watchful eye on you because you never know what you will find on the floor and stick in your mouth. Thankfully Carter is really good at being an extra set of eyes. When you get older, you will probably think she is bossy but she is just looking out for you! You two continue to do better at "playing" together. Carter is learning that you don't mean to knock over her tower or take all of her "friends" out of the little doll house...she has started to understand that she will have to teach you how to play and do things. (Even though there are still a lot of moments when she gets very upset with you, she is loves to give you bear hugs and tells you that she "loves you the mostest!")

9 Month Check Up:
Height: 27.75 inches (16th percentile)
Weight: 17 pounds 7 ounces (32nd percentile)
Head Circumference: 44 cm (25th percentile)

You were scheduled to have your 9 month check up on your 9 month birthday but Dr. Smith went ahead and did it a week early at your post-hospital stay appointment. We are so thankful for such a good pediatrician and a happy little boy. Overall it was a good checkup. You are still a short little man! You seem to have a small little waist which makes it very hard to find pants that stay up and don't fall down around your ankles. You have started to wear nine month sleepers but you are starting to fill out your six month clothes. You are wearing a size 2/3 depending on the shoe and size 3 diaper. You don't like to have sunglasses or a hat on your head. And you currently have a mommy attachment problem. Speaking of problems...Sleep...It's been a problem the past few weeks. Before your hospital stay you were sleeping through the night and would wake around 5 to nurse and go right back to sleep for another couple hours. Since being in the hospital, you started to wake two and some nights even three times a night. Dr. Smith assured us that you were just taking your time to get back in to your routine...and she was right. About two weeks later you were doing great. You nurse for a little bit, topped off with a 3 ounce bottle of breastmilk and are in bed by 7:30. You wake anywhere between 5:15 and 6:30 to nurse and go back to sleep for a couple hours. You still are taking 3 naps a day. It's always a good day when you and your sissy take your midday nap at the same time!
Even though you are constantly on the move and getting into everything, who could resist those big blue eyes and cute smile? Your bottom right tooth has broken through and your left one should be coming any day now. Your gums are puffy and you are a drooling machine! It's hard to imagine you with "teeff" (as Carter calls them). Mommy is going to miss that gummy grin!
It's crazy to think just how fast nine months have come and gone. It won't be long and we will be planning your first birthday! Although it looks like time isn't going to be slowing down for us, we are definitely enjoying everyday of our fast pace life! We love you to the moon and back little man!
