Little man, you are one month old and no one can believe it! It seems like you have always been a part of our family. It's hard to remember what it was like before you.
Your first month has been pretty normal other than your little procedure for your tongue. Even after that you were still pretty chill. You are a good eater and have put on a good amount of weight. You are better at nursing than your sister was but you also drink breastmilk from a bottle like a champ too. In your early weeks you preferred to snack rather than eat for any period longer than 5 minutes but recently you have started eating full meals, which keep you fuller longer. This past week, you have started to get the hiccups frequently, just like your sissy did.
We are still working on getting on a schedule, although you usually tend to eat about every 2.5 - 3 hours during the day and have gone as long as 6 hours at night. (Not to say that we get 6 hours each night, sometimes it's only 3 or 4.) Sleep comes easy to you. Mommy is always worried you nap too much during the day, but I think I forgot just how much a new born sleeps. You are super snuggly. You love to nap on our shoulder or chest. You sleep best in your swaddle, just like your sissy. It's even been fun seeing you in one of her nutural color swaddles and comparing pictures.
You have done well fitting into the "little brother" roll. When Carter wants to hold you, you are usually pretty calm and don't mind. Mommy and daddy have to stay super close because when she is tired of holding you we have to be ready to practically catch you. We have gone to the zoo and Edventure this month and you have done great tagging along.
We were given the option of skipping your one month well check up due to how bad the flu has been this winter. You weren't going to be getting any shots so we figured one less trip to the doctor was probably a good idea.
We did weigh you and measure your length at home just so we could track your growth.
Weight: 9 lbs 14 oz (+2lbs 3oz from birth weight)
Length: 20 1/4 inches (+1 1/4 since birth)
Diapers: Pampers Newborns (the first two weeks) and Size 1
Clothes: Premie the first two weeks and some newborn. You were born so short that your feet didn't reach the footies in most of your outfits and the shoulders of the newborn outfits were too wide. No matter what brand of socks we try, none stay on you skinny little feet.
You have big navy blue eyes (they seem to be getting lighter and brighter) and long light lashes. Carter likes to point out your "tiny nose," "tiny mouth," and "tiny ears." She says you have "big eyes" when you are awake but "tiny eyes" when you are asleep. Your eyebrows are fairly light in color but you are very expressive and you wrinkle your forehead a lot. Your finger nails are constantly growing, mommy has already peeled/clipped them a few times. The hair on the top of your head has started to fall out and the fuzzy hair underneath looks much lighter. We wonder if you will have blonde curly hair like Carter. Of course the patch in the back, where you rest your head, is already gone. We joke and say you look like an old bald man without having hair on the top of your head. You may be balding but you sure are cute!
Just to prove how fast your one month birthday snuck up on us, mommy had to go digging through Carter's baby clothes to find a plain white onesie at the last minute because we didn't have one for you. Mommy was so unprepared for the first month to fly by so quickly. We thought the first month with Carter went fast, Crawford's first month passed in what seemed like a blink of an eye.
