Carter looked at each of her big toys and when she got to the red table and chairs she realized that she got a new hat! She quickly pulled out her bow, handed it to mommy and put on her new hat...backwards. Carter is constantly making us laugh and she loves to wear hats!
Then it was time to check out all the new toys.
She was excited to have presents in her stocking. She got Sophia the First ("FiFi") stickers, crayons, and piggy paint. The Piggy Paint was a big deal to her. When she sees mommy painting her nails she always asks for her's to be painted too but mommy always says she isn't old enough and the nail polish isn't for little girls. Well now she has her own light pink nail polish that is non-toxic, odorless, and kid friendly.
After opening her stocking, we moved on to presents. Carter had a lot of fun not only opening her own presents but also helping mommy and daddy open their's too!
After we celebrated and played with our new gifts, we packed up and headed over to Gee and Pa's. YaYa had made the yummiest cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Then we opened a few presents and Carter went down for a nap. By the time she woke up Tara, Hannah, and David had arrived for lunch and more presents.
After lunch, we headed over to Grammy and Grandpa's to celebrate and eat dinner. Carter gave them her silhouette in an ornament for their tree. Carter didn't sit down (other than to eat dinner) the whole time we were there. Grammy had dressed her baby dolls in Christmas outfits and she played with them and the snowman almost the whole evening.
Thankfully, we remembered to pack Carter's pajamas so she would be ready for bed when we got home. Of course she knew when she saw the pj's we were going to be getting ready to leave soon. She was having so much fun she didn't want to go home!
After some tears and good-byes, we were headed back home. Mommy and daddy had to come up with a plan to get Carter upstairs without seeing all her new toys in the den or else Carter would want to stay up and play. So daddy parked the car in the garage got Carter our of the car, walked around to the front of the house and went straight up the stairs, all while distracting Carter to look the opposite direction of her Christmas toys sitting in the den.
After her usual bedtime routine, she was asleep in her crib and mommy and daddy were resting in bed. Christmas day had come and gone, left us exhausted, but thankful for all that we had. Christmas with a toddler made everything more fun and exciting than ever before. This was by far the best yet!
