16 Months

SIXTEEN MONTHS?!?! How can you possibly be 16 months old? Some days fly by others feel like the minute hand creeps but looking back, this month has definitely flown by. You keep "ma" and "da" on our toes and well entertained! You love to play with any type of ball, but a good ole' tennis ball is probably your favorite! At Gee and Papa's you carry them around two at a time and you giggle when you throw them both at the same time. Around our house we play with regular tennis balls, the larger foam tennis balls, and a big purple bouncy ball (that is just about as big as you are).

You are constantly on the move. Whether chasing down balls, climbing to get in your rocking chair, or riding your rocking horse. You are a busy little body. You ride your little pink rocking horse so hard, that sometimes we think you are going to flip it backwards; you seem fearless on that thing! You prefer to have the blinds up so that you can see out of all the windows. You love looking in the back yard. When we ask you if you want to go outside you walk to the door and wait for someone to take you. The weather this month has been enjoyable most days and we have taken full advantage of it! Playing outside seems to be one of your favorite things to do. Even if we just go for a walk. You love being outside.
All of that running around sure does work up an appetite. We joke around saying you eat like a teenage boy because you are constantly hungry and never seem to be full. This month you have started to really drink more milk and even more diluted juice from your steamed apples. You tend to drink most of from your cup after finishing your meal or snack. We have found that you do best with the Dr. Brown's sippy cup and that is all we use.
Seems like we have finally transitioned to two naps a day. Your three naps were getting shorter and every once in a while you would throw us a curve ball and nap for two or so hours. You kind of transitioned yourself plus the help of our busy schedule for a couple days. Now you take your first nap between 10-11am. Then you wake up, eat, play and go down again between 2-3pm. And around 6:30/7pm you are getting ready for bed. This schedule seems to be working well for you.
You are really into shutting doors in our house. I can think of three instances where you have come behind daddy and I and shut the door behind us. One: Daddy left the door halfway open as he walked into the garage to put something in the recycling bin, and before he could get back inside, you shut the door on him. Two: When mommy was standing in the pantry making a grocery list, you shut the door behind her. Three: You shut the master bathroom door while you were in the bathroom and we were in the bedroom; funny thing was, you could shut it but couldn't figure out how to open it!
You have always found it interesting to watch the cars and trucks drive by on the street behind our house. But for some reason you now get so scared and upset when you hear things like the trucks, train, or any loud noise. Don't know what cause you to fear the noise but we have definitely noticed the change. You get so upset and run to either ma or dad and want to be held. We hate that you get frightened but we love it when you want to be held so close. That being said, you love to be outside around 5:30 when all of the neighbors are coming home from work. You wave at all the cars and watch them go by. We never know if people are going to wave back because you tend to wave as soon as you see the car, not when they see you. It's always a toss up, but you love it!
We look forward to Thursday mornings because we go to library class. You are very social with the other kids (and their mommy's too) in the class. You tend to stay on the rug, but you don't always pay attention to the teacher because you are too busy watching everyone else!
You are talking more and now you can say "ma" momma, "da" daddy, "hey da" hey daddy, "duh" dog, "bay" baby, "buh" banana, and "ssss" cheese/lunch meat (when either waiting in line at the Publix deli counter or getting cheese and lunch meat out of the fridge, this is all she says, over and over).

You little window in your mouth is starting to close. That right front tooth is finally coming in and you soon will have all of your front teeth! You are still wearing a size 3 diaper and size 5 in your summer sandals. You have moved up to size 18 months in both bottoms and tops. And yes, we took two different sets of pictures this month. Mommy got a little camera happy!
