Seven Months

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have lift off...
and Carter LOVES it!!!
Sometimes it is more of a "scooting" motion but she is moving. Slowly at first but she is getting the hang of it.
It's so hard to imagine our little girl becoming mobile. It's exciting, scary, and sad all at the same time. Mommy wishes that Carter would stay a little baby forever but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Daddy is excited for you to start moving, but in all honesty, he is still looking forward to the day he comes home from work and you yell, "da da!" when he comes through the door.

We try to keep you on your pallet (a queen size mattress pad with a sheet over it) because we have hardwoods downstairs and because you have already gotten carpet burn/light bruises on your knees from scooting around so much. You love when we crawl around and play with you on the floor. We must do it too often because if we don't distract you with a toy before putting and walking away, you end up fussing until we come back to play with you. I guess that just means that you like to have a play buddy? Your daddy keeps talking with you about wanting a little brother or sister to play with...and mommy just smiles.

Your seven months birthday has really flown by. Once again, I catch myself asking "Where is all this time going?" To be honest, we spend our days laughing and playing, changing your diapers, making your bottles and feeding you mommy's homemade baby food. It seems like we have gotten into more of a napping routine now but it still isn't to the hour. Normally you wake up around 7:30, go back to sleep around 8:30, take an hour or so nap around 11, another nap around 4ish, and asleep and in bed by 8.

You still don't have any teeth yet but man do you drool constantly! I can't imagine what you will look like without this gummy grin but I'm sure you won't look like my little baby anymore. Your smile lights up any room and draw any stranger near. Those dimples appear and you become the cutest thing anyone could have ever imagined!

Your eyes have remained blue, and may even be a tad bit lighter than they were before. Your hair is getting longer and thicker and not to mention lighter!!! Mommy is so excited not only for the blonde hair but because you almost have enough for a bow! Your last little patch of 'newborn hair' continues to get lighter. There is hardly even a dark patch at the nape of your neck anymore.
You have a love for putting everything in your mouth. And if it has a tag, you WILL find it and chew on it until we take it away. Out of all these times we let you play with this blanket to take pictures, you have now found the tag and chomped on it until I removed it from your hands. It didn't take you long to find something else to do with the blanket but it is like this with ANYTHING you can get your little hands on.
During our little seven months photo shoot, you made yourself laugh for the first time...and mommy got pictures of it! You were rolling around with the blanket and ended up laying on your back but the blanket was across your body and covering up your face. You started laughing and kicking your legs so fast. The next thing I see is you yank the blanket off of your face and you are laughing so hard at yourself. It was so cute. We then kept covering you over with the blanket and letting you figure out how to get it off.
It wasn't long after that you were back on your knees and ready to explore. I love seeing your in little bloomers with your monogram on your little hiney. It has to be one of the cutest things ever!
When you get close to a wall, you like to feel it with your hand and make the 'nails down a chalkboard' noise. It makes mommy cringe. Not to mention, if there is an outlet on the wall it's an added bonus, you like to feel it too, until mommy tells you no and moves your hand away.  It is amazing how you find the simple things like walls to entertain yourself in an near empty room. You started laughing after playing with the wall and the next thing I see is you turning around to put your feet up on the wall.

All this scooting around and playing is hard work. You rarely ever put your head down to rest. but this picture below is so sweet. It makes mommy's heart just melt.
Daddy to the rescue. Some love from daddy can make everything better.
You are now starting to put more weight on your feet and legs. We attribute this to your new found love for the exersaucer. You really have started to bounce up and down in that thing; so much that sometimes we look over to make sure you haven't bounced right out of it!

I know this day will come soon enough, but I am not ready to see you standing tall. You look like a full blown toddler in this picture; and mommy is no where near ready for that! You on the other hand love for someone to help hold you up. You really can support your weight, but you just need someone to help you balance and support your back. You don't last too long standing and when you get tired, you plop down in an instant. (It's almost as if your legs just go limp.) Then give it a minute and you are ready to stand again.
You think that we are your own personal jungle gym...which in all actuality, we are. You can be so fun when you are crawling all over us and giving us your open mouth, wet kisses. You enjoy scooting up to us and trying to get over our legs if we are laying on the floor with you. We end up being more like a road block for you but you still love to give it your best try.
You continue to be a very happy baby girl. You sure do have your mama and daddy smitten over you. (Not to mention your grandparents too!) All you have to do is bat your big blue eyes and give us that grin and we all fall in love all over again! ...Until we see this face and then we know you mean business!
It's a hard life...eating, sleeping, pooping, and scooting...but when you need a hug and some extra love we are always here! We love you, Carter-Bug!
