We stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch and we all ended up having a big breakfast. Carter wanted to play her version of checkers while Crawford rocked. And afterwards, we let them run around in the grass at the edge of the parking lot.

We were back in the car and back on the road. Carter enjoyed going through both of the tunnels. Both were happy campers while we stopped to buy gas.

After we ate at Outback, we did a little target shopping next door. The kids usually ride in a buggy but we let them walk (who are we kidding, we let them run) down the isles. When we were within 30 minutes of the hotel, they began to get antsy but some noisy hand clappers saved the day. They both loved these things!

We made it to the hotel in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The kiddos were thrilled to be out of the car and staying in the hotel for the night. After (realizing that Casey forgot his hanging clothes for his conference) we unloaded and settled in. These two monkeys thought they had found a new jungle gym.

Carter got a laugh out of the ducky wash cloth!
The next morning, after tasting everything they had to offer at breakfast, we were packed up and ready to head back on the road.

We stopped and did some outlet shopping (thank goodness daddy found everything he needed at the first store) the kiddos and daddy hit the playground while mommy shopped for Crawford a new pair of jeans. (He's still wearing his 9 months jeans from last fall and after trying on 3 pair, he ended up with a size 12 months that should last him through the fall this year and a size 18 months, just in case he hits a major growth spurt between now and then!)
Back in the car and on the final leg of the trip we stopped at the nicest rest area overlooking some body of water (momma never pays attention as to where we are, she has to focus on just making the final destination). The kiddos were excited to run around and take in the view.

We made it to Grampy and MeMaw's by 3:45 and they welcomed us with open arms! (Crawford was smiling ear to ear when momma was getting him out of his car seat. As Grampy made his way to Crawford's side of the car door, momma said, "Here comes Grampy!" and he got so excited and must have been looking for "Grandpa" because when he heard and saw Grampy's voice, his smile quickly faded and he just stared at him. He had forgotten who he was since he was only six month old during last year's visit. Carter on the other hand, remembered and didn't hesitate giving out hugs while momma held Crawford.

MeMaw quickly gave Carter a puzzle and she made herself at home. Crawford got a tractor that made noise and lights and he found a seat in the recliner.

They made us hamburgers for dinner and surprised mommy and daddy with roses and cake and ice cream for our 7th wedding anniversary. Carter loved having a "party party" with cake and ice cream!!

Each morning we woke up to find our breakfast table set, cereals out, and fresh fruit on the table.
This year, Carter was old enough to sleep in a big girl bed and she liked having her own room.

Our mornings consisted of lots of walks through "the woods" in pajamas. (The first morning we put Crawford's new boots on him, he acted like he couldn't walk in them. By the second day, he tried them again and he did great walking in them! They were his favorite thing to wear!)

Since the kid's clothes always get hung to dry at home, mommy hung them on hangers and MeMaw had the idea to have them around Crawford's room downstairs to dry --- all 18 hangers full!
There are no pictures from most of Friday because mommy got sick and was totally out of commission. Daddy got a good feel for how much we missed him while he was away at his conference. Aunt Debbie came over for dinner and brought ice cream from her ice cream shop. The kiddos loved ever lick and When it was time for her to go home, Carter wanted her to stay for a sleepover.
Carter always kept an eye out for feathers.
Carter didn't sleep well the next two nights and said she didn't feel well either. She must have gotten a touch of whatever mommy had come down with.
A trip to the local Walmart to view their fish selection and buy some medicine sure helped everyone's moral.

Crawford and Grampy nicknamed themselves "the rock guys" because Crawford loved to sit with Grampy and count rocks.
MeMaw took every chance she got to get an extra "squeeze and smooch" she could get from all of us, especially Carter. They played with play dough and MeMaw got out her old cookie cutters to play with.
