Folly Beach 2016

On a whim, we decided to book a house on Folly and go for a long weekend to celebrate mommy and daddy's birthdays. We waited to tell Carter and Crawford after gymnastics and after daddy got home from work. She was so excited, jumping and screaming and twirling. She was so happy to go on vacation! After scarfing down Moe's and putting on our jammies, we were on our way.
We arrived at the house a little after 9 and  the kids were excited but we had them in bed by 10. The next morning we were up at 7 and at our favorite spot, The Lost Dog Cafe, by 7:45. The kids split pancakes with strawberries and bananas, daddy had chocolate chip pancakes with bacon inbetween the pancakes and peanut butter and bananas on top and mommy had a yummy gravy biscuit. We made a quick stop for a couple things at the grocery store and then we were on our way to pick up the golf cart. You can just barely see Carter little head and bow riding with daddy on the way back to the house.
When we got home, Carter said she was tired and needed a nap...which never happens...so she pretended to take a 30 second nap and then she was ready to go again!
Before Crawford's morning nap, we went on a golf cart ride to go stick out toes in the ocean. All we had heard from Carter was, "I want to go to the beach!"
We came back and put Crawford down for a nap. Daddy tried to take a nap too but his little explorer wanted him to wake up. So mommy and Carter walked down the street to play on the playground while the boys napped.
She was fascinated when we found this little lizard.
After naps and lunch we threw on our swimsuits and went to the beach. Both Carter and Crawford were in heaven! Digging in the sand, chasing sea gulls and "riding in the water" kept them busy for hours!
Crawford loved being free to walk and run around. He did had the biggest smile on his face and looked so cute totting around. He only put sand in his mouth twice the whole trip and he didn't cry (unlike when Carter did it when she was his age).
Carter was all about going back and forth to the water. She would make a "meatball" and then go drop it in the water. Dig up some wet sand and walk it back to her biker for spaghetti. He little prancing on the beach was the cutest thing!
After bath and showerers, they were in the best moods and played in mommy and daddy's bedroom.
Crawford was determined that he was not going to take an afternoon nap and Carter just couldn't wind down so we went on a golf cart ride around the beach and came back and had dinner. The kids were in bed and sleep by 7. Daddy was asleep by 7:45 and mommy cleaned up and was asleep by 9.
Good thing we all went to bed early because Carter woke up at 5:45 and was ready to go. An hour of snuggling in bed and we were ready to start our day. Crawford was up around 7 and we ate breakfast at the house. Later in the morning we went on a golf cart ride to go get coffee and the kids were excited for an smoothie.
After Crawford's nap and lunch, it was town to head out to the beach again.
Crawford was all about the water...he even took a spill while "riding the water" but got up smiling!
Here came Carter running to the water to "ride."
After a low key evening, the kids practically fell asleep before their heads hit their pillows. Literally. The next morning we were up and at 'em and sad to be heading up but we had a wonderful weekend. Carter kept saying how much fun she had and saying, "Thank you for taking me on vacation." We could not have had a better trip. The weather was perfect. The kids had a blast. And we got to spend time together! We can't wait for next time!
