Happy Half Birthday, Little Man!
It's so hard to believe that you have only been in our lives for six short months...it feels like you've always been here.
You have become quite the smiler these last few weeks. Seems like you have come out of our shell and enjoy being with others now rather than just being mommy's little man. You constantly smile and want to enter act with everyone now. Your bright blue eyes and that gummy grin of yours melts our hearts. When you smile your whole face lights up!
You reach for everything you see. Mommy's hair, sissy's hair, toys, bottles, toys, and your favorite---anything you aren't supposed to have. We know this is just the beginning...childproofing the second time around is going to be tough!
You are (or should I say "were") a great sleeper. You have always slept through the night like a champ until we went to Pennsylvania. We are blaming it on the traveling (your pediatrician agreed) but you have been waking up during the night, minus last night. Let's hope you are back to your regular nightly sleeping habits. You nap three times during the day from 1 to 2 hours. Haven't figured out what makes you nap for the occasional three hour nap other than being tired from waking during the night. You still love your swaddle---It usually calms you down. We have put the bumper back in the crib and are now putting the gate up. (Note:This went on for almost a week but you are back to your regular sleeping pattern and fully sleeping through the night and waking around 6:30.)
You love bath time with your sissy. You try to swim like a fish. Carter enjoys having you in the tub with her. You love to chew on the bath toys and watch Carter play and splash water.
Dr. Smith gave us the go ahead for starting cereals, veggies, fruits and yogurt. You still live to nurse but will take a bottle of breast milk with no problems. You might get one or two bottles every few days. I think Carter is more excited about you eating food more than anyone. She always likes to offer you things you can't eat and follows up by saying, "maybe when you are older."
You have moved up sizes this month, wearing all 6 month clothes and even some 6-9. Still you have ample room in the belly but you need it in the length of the torso. We've also moved up to 3's in diapers. The funniest thing this month was trying to find you fitting swim trunks. Even the 3-6 month trunks didn't stay up on your waist.
We are still on watch for any signs of teeth breaking through. You drool like crazy and Carter can't stand it! She will practically run from you when you have drool on or hanging from your chin.
You live to be on the floor or in your exerciser. You have just started going wild and crazy jumping in that thing! It makes you so happy until you are done with it and tired about 15 minutes later. You aren't loving the Bumbo seat as much as your sister did...hopefully once you start sitting up more you will be more keen to sitting in it. You show no interest what so ever in sitting up (assisted or unassisted). Who needs to sit still when you can be on the move?
We can't believe that you are half way through your first year! Some days are long, some days seem shorter than others but the months are flying by. You have sure found the way to all of our hearts! We love you, little man!
